Aechmea bromeliifolia ‘Rubra’
A widespread South American species found in various forms from Venezuela to Brazil. This red form is found in Bahia, Brazil, usually as a terrestrial in the Campos Rupestris or rocky, open scrublands. A decorative, architectural plant that forms tall and tightly erect, tubular growth; a cluster of older specimens resembles a collection of bronze colored vases. The inflorescence is a white cone with yellow flowers and rose bracts. Great landscape subject that can grow to 3 feet tall.
