Aechmea nudicaulis v. aequalis ‘Big John’
An exceptionally large and robust form of this species, growing to 30 inches or more, in an upright, tight vase shape. The leaves are up to 4 inches wide, glossy green with medium spines. The inflorescence is attractive, with erect, bright orange bracts. In spite of its size it can be grown into a clump in a 6 inch pot. Does great mounted too. This species is found in restinga habitats in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
