Neoregelia ampullacea Rio de Janeiro
A handsome, strongly banded form of this species. The plant is upright with stiff leaves about 6 inches tall. With a base color of green with red banding on the undersides, becoming nearly solid red at the base. The upper leaf surface has lighter banding. A nice plant that is an easy grower, forming clusters in even small pots. Good terrarium subject.
